Scribbleking exclusive interview & Fan Art Friday #11
Heyas all!
Today we have a special after-midnight snack courtesy of Scribbleking.
About a week ago I recieved an email from Patrick, who runs the Scribbleking.com website, telling me that he has enjoyed Gremlins Online and would like to do an interview with me for his site. I gladly obliged, and after a few emails full of questions back and forth, a quite lengthy interview was born.
You can read the interview and a ton more movie info at: http://www.Scribbleking.com
Of course, we cannot forget about Fan Art Friday! This week we feature another fantastic gremlins tattoo, this time gracing the skin of CruelRealities.

We also have another special treat to make up for missing last week, so head on over to the Fan Art Friday section and check it out!
What? There’s more? Of course there is! Some new wallpapers have been added to the gallery, this time some great shots from Gremlins 2: The New Batch. Grab a couple so you can Grace your desktop with some Gremliny Goodness.
Gremlins Online Updates: Toy Fair, Gremlins 3, Games, and more.
Heyas all!
There has been no more Gremlins 3 news, but we will kep our pointy ears open, just in case.
Toy Fair ’07 did not have anything Gremlins-related, as far as has been reported, but NECA does like to hold back some of their toys for ComiCon, so hopefully we will see the board game finally get released.
As for website updates, The Gremlins 3 section is finally up and available for your browsing pleasure. It took a lot longer than expected, but I think you will all be happy with the results.
I updated a few more of the Gremlins Online pages, correcting some general spelling errors and adding a few features here and there.
Updates:
– Added Gremlins 3 section
– Added additional images to Gremlin Invasion ride page.
– Moved the Lost Games link into the Video Games section.
– Added header art and link to arcade game video in Lost Games.
– Corrected some grammatical errors on various pages.
There will be a few new sections coming in the next month, so keep your eyes peeled, and stay out of the sunlight, because you are going to love what is is hatching in the near future here on Gremlins Online! (If only we had….a DeLorean……*wink*)
Fan Art Friday #9 & #10: Gremlins in the Interwebs!
I kept checking the wiring, the connections in the basement, and even outside by the cable box…but no gremlins were to be found, so I am at a loss on how to explain the last week’s random internet issues I have been having.
These issues kept my normally speedy connection down to something that reminded me of connecting to MUDS and BBS systems years and years ago. Somehow I snuck an upload in, so the fan art page was updated last friday, but I couldn’t get to post an update about it, so here it is, better late than never.
On the second of Februrary, I put up #9, byinfernoslight‘s art that he made for his girlfriend. What did he exactly come up with? I could explain it, but that would take some of the fun of the surprise away, now wouldn’t it?… (insert evil laughter here)
Today’s submission is Xax by Marsw, one of her own creations. She actually has a few different gremlins and mogwai that she has backstory and everything for, and hopefully we will get the opportunity to learn more of what dwells in her mind in the near future.

Spider-man? What is he doing in Fan Art Friday?
Now that the gremlins have seemingly relinquished their hold on my internet connection (for the moment), expect to see a few new pages popping up very soon, with some new content never before explained in depth.
Quick side note: I have recently submitted Gremlins Online to Technorati, so if you are a regular reader, feel free to add us to your favorites on Technorati. The more people that view and favorite the blog, the higher the ranking and the better Gremlins Online’s visibility is.
There are a lot of people out there looking for gremlins stuff online, and the goal of Gremlins Online is to be your first and last stop for everything gremlins related.
{Rumor Mill} Update on Gremlins 3 status
Heyas all,
Well I got in touch with Zach Galligan last night, and asked him if he had heard anything about a Gremlins 3 movie, and mentioned the rumors about direct to DVD, and here is a bit of what he had to say.
“[I] Don’t know anything about Gremlins 3.
I do think it would be a mistake to do a straight to video film. Why would a big company like WB do that to a
fairly successful franchise? It doesn’t make sense to me. A big budget
remake would seem to make more sense.“
Now this does not mean that there isn’t a Gremlins 3 in the works, DVD or otherwise, it just means Zach has not yet been contacted if there is one in the works . He also has not mentioned whether or not he would be interested in doing a new Gremlins project. In reality, a third Gremlins film could work without Zach, but I know a lot of fans would be very disappointed by the lack of Billy.
As for the Gremlins 3 section, it is taking a little bit longer to complete than expected, but I wanted to put this information up on the front page so you all can see what the story is so far.
Gremlins 3 News & Rumors
Confirmed:
- There have been various scripts and ideas for Gremlins 3, but nothing has been set in stone
- Driector Joe Dante has no interest in a Gremlins film with CGI Gremlins – 2/5/07
- Producer Mike Finnell will not be involved in a direct-to-video Gremlins film -2/5/07

- Gremlins 3 will be made after the Goonies 2 and Scooby-Doo 3 are released, all of which will be direct to video. – 2/2007
Debunked:

- Stephen Berkoff will star in Gremlins 3 – 2001
- Gremlins 3: Hatched is the title of the new film (Gremlins 3: Hatched was simply the title for a fan story and fan made trailer)
There we go, let me know if you vigilant readers have heard anything else, and we will hopefully get to the bottom of this!
{Rumor Mill} Gremlins 3 Direct To Video??
Allrighty folks.
I have been putting off posting this, but the dozen or so emails compelled me to say something.
As many of us know, Ghostbusters 3 has been confirmed to be in some stage of development by Ray Stantz himself, Dan Aykroyd. This is one of the beloved series of the 80s, just like Gremlins. In fact, both franchises really play to a similar audience. Ghostbusters came out in 1984, as did Gremlins. Ghostbusters 2 came out in 1989, with Gremlins not far behind in 1990. Both being huge franchises of the 80s and early 90s, both with more merchandise than you can shake a wet
mogwai at, it makes sense that a company would eventually want to continue making money on these brands.
So soon after Ghostbusters 3 was re-semi-confirmed, the Gremlins 3 news started to leak out.
Gremlins 3 scuttlebutt is nothing new, it is no big secret that scripts have been out there, and there has been talk of various actors/actresses coming to the party, but never anything concrete. Joe Dante has repeatedly explained that Small Soldiers was “his gremlins 3”, and that Gremlins was a product of the effects at the time, and now they want him to do CGI, but he has no interest in that path.
Moviehole.net has had a couple of interesting notes on Warner Premiere, the new Direct to Video branch of Warner Brothers. One thing said is that there may be a Gremlins 3 in the works, though not involving (Gremlins 1&2) director Joe Dante or Producer Mike Finnell.
From this article on Moviehole.net
Talking to Empire Magazine, Producer Michael Finnell mentioned that “they [WB] might do a low-budget direct-to-DVD version”, but neither he nor director Joe Dante would donate their services to it. According to Dante, “Gremlins was governed by the technology that produced it. Now it would be CGI, and you could do anything. There may be places for the jokes to go [The White House?]. But you’ve got a company who owns the rights to a movie that they don’t quite understand. I think it’s going to be difficult for them to make another one”.
Also it mentions somewhat candidly, that (sic)”Zack Gallighan’s determined to make sure they do…” A few emails I recieved mentioned this, as proof that Gremlins 3 is happening. I am going to go out on a limb and say that this is just an off-comment from the author of the news article. First of all there is no reference, there is no source on Zach’s opinion on a new gremlins film, and the fact that they didn’t even spell his name right shows a lack of interest in ensuring accuracy.
I have sent out a few emails, and will be making a couple phone calls tommorow regarding this information, as I would like to confirm or debunk this rumor as soon as possible.
There will also be a Gremlins 3 section coming soon for news, rumors, and the saga so far.
I appreciate the emails, keep them coming, and if you have any more information regarding Gremlins 3 please keep it coming! Feel free to digg this or distribute it to people you know that might be able to shed a bit of light on the situation.
As soon as I know anything else, or get word from anyone that might be involved with the project you all will be the first to know.
