Gremlins Online!
Your home for all things Gremlins

What we want, Fred, is what everyone wants….
Aside from a feature fim contiunation of the Gremlins series, some decent merchandise to break our oft-neglected piggy banks open is right on the top of many a Gremlins fan’s list.
We have been getting some reports of new spifftastic T-Shirts, but sadly the vast majority of them have been quite uninspired, but for those who have been asking about what different designs have released, here are a few of the newest that have popped up on online retailers and the wonder of junk that is known as eBay…. (click on the pics for bigger versions)
First, we have some of what I feel are the worst uses of the Gremlins License so far….

Stripe “Rebel” “Word To Your Mogwai”

“High Maintenance” “It’s Good To Be Bad”
Ok, The “Rebel” shirt is probably the most atrocious of the designs, but it does gain points in my sticker book for being among the very few Mogwai Stripe shirt seen in many years. The “Word To Your Mogwai” shirt makes me cringe just thinking about it, and “High Maintenance” just is reminiscant of those black sequined shirts that were quite a rage for girls to wear that touted rebellious statements such as “Princess”, “Bitch”, “Spoiled”, “Sassy” or other pseudo-rebel propaganda. I personally can’t stand them, as to me they are a cry for attention from someone who obviously gets too much as it is. Then again, they could have some ironic inside joke attached to the wearer of the shirts that of which, I am blissfully unaware. Either way, not my style. Moving on, “It’s Good to be bad” is much less annoying than the “Rebel” shirt, but still uses the same stock image of Stripe to convey the “rebelliousness” in us all. As much as I dislike the attitude these shirts have, I do enjoy seeing them in stores, and even more, seeing them on people out and about. It reminds me that Gremlins isn’t a forgotten franchise, and that it may have a decent life in the future…we hope…
Most of these shirts are only sold in girls’ sizes, and many are only juniors as well, so sadly, the more masculine among us will have to search elsewhere to get our ‘tude on.
Next up after the break, some depressingly bland shirts and a few Teriffic Timeless T-Shirt Treasures to watch out for!
(and maybe more aliterations!)
{Ebay Treasures} Gremlin Puppet Prop & Lenny Mask
Welcome to “Ebay Treasures” a new series of posts that will share some of the awesome and rare Gremlins things that show up on various auction sites and marketplaces online. This will be updated whenever something pops up, so it could be twice in a day, or once in a month, all at the whims of the market!
First up is an awesome Don Post made Lenny Mask from Gremlins 2. These were seen mostly in ads in magazines like Fangoria, Cinescape or Starlog and ranged from 30$ for the basic latex versions to 75$ for the really high-quality ones with hair or more detail in the features.

As usual, Gremlins Online has no connection to this auction and is just as information, letting everyone know about a cool gremlins item on ebay.
Our second Ebay Treasure was found by one of our regular readers Aelia P.
Unfortunately, we missed the boat on this one, as the auction ended before we could catch it and sell some body parts to afford it, but maybe it is for the best. My wife would probably kill me if I was missing a kidney to pay for a Gremlins prop, though I doubt she would not be surprised at all.

Check the full size of this bad boy out, you won’t regret it!
This auction claimed to be an original prop from Chris Walas’ collection, and while I tend to be skeptical when it comes to “original props”, the quality sure says it is legit. The puppet is fantastic quality for being over 20 years old, as the materials used aren’t designed to survive this long. Even simple handling deteriorates the latex and paints used rapidly due to the natural oils in our hands.
If you want to take a peek at what the $4,000 auction looked like, here is the link: http://cgi.liveauctions.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3AWNA%3AUS%3A122&viewitem=&item=230104755964
Thanks again, Aleia for this awesome tip!

Mohawk Statue Auction for Charity
Browsing eBay today, I came across an auction for a 2′ Mohawk statue where all of the proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society as part of the Relay For Life event.
Normally, I try and avoid posting news about eBay auctions, but I am a sucker for charity and goodwill acts so I will have to ignore my policy today….

This is one of the better painted statues, and looks phenominal. This is a great opportunity for a good cause, so check out the link and bid. (you can also click on the picture to get to the auction.) The auction is running until January 27th, but if you miss it, you can also simply donate at http://www.acsevents.org/relay/mi/westland/patriciasgardenangels.
