{Gremlins 3 News} Chris Columbus says the new Gremlins film will “Almost definitely” be a reboot.
According to a very short metro.us article, Chris Columbus says that the new Gremlins Film will “Almost definitely” be a reboot.
Doesn’t really tell us anything solid or further details, but at least people are still talking to those involved
https://www.metro.us/entertainment/movies/gremins-reboot-gonnies-sequel-update
Take it with a huge grain of salt folks. The article is pretty poorly written, and if you look at the URL, they didn’t even spell Goonies or Gremlins correctly. They also made the mistake of claiming Gremlins was released in 1985, when we all aware it released in the summer of 1984. While this may seem minor, it just shows a lack of thoroughness on the part of the writer.
We all want a new Gremlins film/product/cartoon/etc, but I for one am at the point where I will believe it when I see something concrete more than someone saying “things are in the works”.
{Rumor Mill} Gremlins coming to LEGO Dimensions?!
Leaked footage from an upcoming LEGO Dimensions trailer, presumably planned to be featured at E3 next week has gotten the Gremlins Universe all abuzz with this one moment, screencaptured by @BrentOnInternet (https://twitter.com/BrentOnInternet/status/740347698302222336)

The rumors on multiple websites claim that the new LEGO Dimensions game will have:
Sonic the Hedgehog, Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them, Goonies, Ghostbusters, Powerpuff Girls, Adventure Time, Teen Titans and Mission Impossible
Goonies, Ghostbusters and Gremlins all in the same game? Along with Finn & Jake and the Powerpuff Girls? This can’t be. This is extremely exciting. At least we seem to have confirmation that Gremlins will be in the game, via the trailer that was quickly taken down.
More details as they become available!

{Gremlins 3 Rumor Mill} Joe Dante Comments On Gremlins 3
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Joe Dante (Director of Gremlins & Gremlins 2) was asked the usualquestion regarding Gremlins 3 and its production status.
When the interviewer mentioned everything was getting sequels and remakes except for gremlins, the next question naturally was about the further adventures of Billy, Gizmo, Kate, and a horde of little green monsters….
“Is there any news on Gremlins 3?”

No. Every so often I call Warner Bros. and say, “You guys doing anything with this?” And they always say, “No.” There was a period a couple of years ago when I think they were working on something but that fell through. I don’t know. They didn’t really understand the first movie, so I think they’re having
trouble figuring out what to do, especially with the change in special effects. The first movies were defined by the technique that we used, which is now out of date. Now, with CGI anything can happen, so it’s difficult to focus the story onto something that’s going to have a point. So rather than being No. 3, I would think they would just go back to the beginning and remake it.
However, the interviewer did ask if he would be interested in doing Gremlins 3, and while the tone seemed to be in jest, it somewhat comes into contradiction with some other things he has said regarding the Gremlins franchise.
Would that be something you would be interested in doing? I work for Time Warner. Maybe I could put in a good word for you!
Well, that’s fine. It would be very flattering if they came to me and said, “Would you like to be involved?” But I have a feeling that they’ve moved on.
So there is where things are, the father of Gremlins himself is pretty sure the franchise is done for the moment. Keep in mind folks, this is Hollywood. Stranger things have happened. They are remaking Fright Night, so that shows you that anything can get a sequel or remake…even Gremlins.
The only real new news here is that Joe Dante has previously said he didn’t really have an interest in doing a Gremlins 3, but that may have been coming from a “They will never ask me, so I don’t really care” kind of attitude.

{Gremlins 3} IGN Reports: No Gremlins 3 For Joe Dante
Not really new news at all but interesting nonetheless.

http://movies.ign.com/articles/111/1119169p1.html
“There are no plans in the offing to do another Gremlins movie” he revealed. “I think that because of the CGI situation and the fact that you can now do anything when you make a movie… the originalfilms were limited by the scope of what we could do technically, and that’s what the movies became about. Now it’s so wide-open, you can almost do anything, and I don’t think they’ve got a handle on what kind of movie it would be.
There you have it folks, right now he does not know of any plans for Gremlins 3. This doesn’t mean it isn’t happening, it just means it is not happening right now….stay tuned for more details…
