New-ish Jun Planning Gremlins!

What a find!

Jun Planning, the makers of some of the most lifelike Gremlins merchandise to date, has updated their website with two fantastic new Gremlins dolls!

First is my favorite of the two, Stripe!

This seems to be an homage to the scene where stripe is snatching candy from the Montgomery Ward Department Store, and it really captures his gleeful and somewhat evil gremlin-ness!

Now for everyone’s favorite minority Mogwai, Gizmo!

According to a translation of the website, it seems that each doll is approximately 11″ tall, and will cost about 6900 yen, which comes out to be near $62.00 USD.

These are the best Jun Planning dolls yet, they really capture the essence of innocence and mischievousness within Gizmo and Stripe better than any others done so far.

Hopefully the two dolls will not be as hard to obtain as the BANDIT exclusives which range on the secondary market now for well over 100$ each!

If you want to see more of the Jun Planning co. Gremlins merchandise, just head on over to http://www.junplanning.co.jp/item/gremlins/gremlins_index.htm
and click on any of the images, more poses and angles are available for most of the items.

Also, if anyone finds a reliable Internet retailer that is offering reasonable shipping to the US on any of the Jun Planning Gremlins, feel free to drop us a line in the comments so more of our readers may partake in the gremlin-y goodness!

Fan Art Friday, Christmas Traditions, & Gremlins in 3D!

Hey Everybody!

It is Friday, and another fantabulous Fan Art Friday is here, and we have two new submissions to sate your thirst for…..well, gremlins fan art!sportsgremlinut5.png
We have a Sports gremlin, drawn psychotically by Harley S, a returning Fan-artsy-person, and the first of a couple submissions by Luis P done in Paint!

Now I know the title probably got you all excited for a Gremlins 3D film, but as some of you may remember, one of our readers, known as Matt, made a CGI Gremlin model a while back. Well, now he has the finished fully rendered Gremlin for display on his website, as well as an awesome picture inspired by the first gremlins film!

http://matt-painter.co.uk/ Hop on over and see what he has cooked up! Keep in mind these were done from scratch using 3D modeling tools on his computer, and are in no way related to any past ,present, or future official Gremlins Product! I have received some concerned emails regarding his previous effort, saying it was from “the making of Gremlins” or something, and I can assure you it is his own product. This says quite a bit for his skill, when people confuse it with the genuine product from a film. You hear that, Warner Bros? Hire him to get this supposed CGI Gremlins film done right!

Anyways, I do have to apologize for the lack of updates, but the reasoning is twofold. Firstly, there has not been much action on the Gremlins front in quite some time, even the merchandising has slowed to a crawl. This means there is not much to post on a regular basis, and what does come through is often uncorroborated rumor.

Secondly, and more importantly, my wife and I are having a little gremlin of our own soon, so we have been getting prepared for this momentous (and rapidly approaching) occasion, and many hobbies have been shifted to the back seat.

Those things said, Do Not Fear! Gremlins Online is not going anywhere, and if plans go through as….uhm…planned, 2008 should be a great year for Gremlins Online and Gremlins in general!

Christmas is coming soon, and that means it is time to break out the DVD/VHS/Betamax/Laserdisc of our favorite Holiday movie, SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS!  Er….I mean GREMLINS! (Though Santa Conquers The Martians is a fantastic holiday cheese wheel of film!!)

So watch gremlins a few times and get inspired! Send in some Holiday-Themed Gremlins Fan Art and we can have an awesome Fan Art Friday on Tuesday, December 25! (Which really makes it a Fan Art Tuesday)

I have been keeping my eyes open for new Gremlins T-Shirt designs that usually launch around this time of year, but there has not been much happening there.

We shall see where the winter winds take us!

Fantastic Fandom & Rumor Mill Update!

Well, after quite some time with nothing of much interest to report, we have a video from a very talented Gremlins fan, gremlin3q.gifand a Gremlins 3 Rumor Mill Update!!

Let’s get that pesky rumor mill tidbit out of the way first.

A short bit ago, I recieved a message from one of our readers, Tony Anderson, who reports

“Just talked to Joe Dante yesterday (10/6/07) and asked about GREMLINS 3. He said there is nothing happening as far as he knows. He also mentioned that it is extremely unlikely he will have anything to do with it, if it does happen. So, there you go, from the man himself after a screening of MATINEE and GREMLINS 2 here in San Francisco, at the Castro theater. :)”

While this is nothing new, it does somewhat put the Direct-To-DVD rumor on the back burner, for better or worse.
We have long known that Joe Dante likely would not have had anything to do with it, after what he has said numerous times in interviews and personal Q&A.

So right now: Nothing is happening. This does not mean the film is not going through talks or negotiations behind the scenes, but simply there is nothing concrete involving Joe Dante. Keep up hope all you Gremlins out there!

Thank you Tony for keeping us informed, and who knows, if enough people keep bugging him “IS THERE GONNA BE A GREMLINS 3?” maybe he will consider coming back for a threequel.

Now, on to our newest Fan submission!

First we have a “proud certified black nerd”  celebrity, Andre Meadows, who you may remember from CW’s Beauty And The Geek.
Andre sent me an email with a bit of info on his love for all things Gremlins and wanted to give us a heads up on his video where he shows off his Nerd Crib with his Gremlins collection, DDR and Nintendo. (A man after my own heart!)

Around 1:20 in is the Gremlins segment and a fantastic Tony Randall (The Brain Gremlin) Impression!

If you go for nerd comedy, (and if you don’t, what are you doing on this site anyways?) you need to check him out, he has a great site at www.blacknerdcomedy.comwhere you can check out his quite unique brand of comedy in the form of V-logs (video blogs), clips and even a couple of his TV appearances!

Hopefully we will hear more from andre in the near future
