The last couple weeks have been somewhat exciting regarding the possibility of Gremlins 3 becoming closer to reality due to some internet rumors.
A new piece of the puzzle has been flooding my inbox thanks to you readers regarding Warner Brothers parking a Gremlins 3 domain.
It seems that the previously unowned domains Gremlins3.com and Gremlins3.co.uk have been registered recently, and here is what we know:

What does this mean? Find out after the jump!
Let’s take a look at what this all means. Firstly we know this domain was registered by Warner Bros, as it gives direct contact info for a “Domain Name Administrator” that works at WB.
Secondly, and probably most importantly, the company doing the registration of Gremlins3.com is MarkMonitor, a company specializing in trademark and brand protection. The domain was registered July, 31, 2009 which means it predates the 3-D rumor by about 6 months.
It seems that there may have been something that caused WB to want to protect the Gremlins3.com domain. This could mean anything, from them thinking about making a new film, to simply revisiting trademarks for protection.
Well that settles that, there is no proof of new film activity there.
However it is interesting that Gremlins3.co.uk has been registered as well.

This coincides with the Gremlins 3-D rumor nearly to the day. It also has absolutely no connection to Warner Brothers or anyone affiliated with the films. It seems this person is doing exactly what Warner Brothers attempted to prevent by registering Gremlins3.com, which is grab the domain and sit on it .
So does this mean that Gremlins 3 Isn’t happening?
No, it just means that Warner Brothers are interested in protecting their trademarks, which is reasonable without a doubt. If there ever is a Gremlins 3, they now have the domain so they don’t need to fight some domain name “Squatter” for it.

I will start believe there will be a third when they will tell “The shoot started”.
Nothing wrong with hoping, just don’t hold your breath.
plus when will you update? its been weeks. at least put the game play for the lost games.
The gameplay videos I have seen I cannot post, as I do not have permission from the original creators. The content does not belong to me, similar to the actual films so I cannot post it. If you are interest in the videos, I suggest contacting someone that worked with Light And Shadow Productions during the period when Gremlins was developed. I apologize for the inablity to get the video out there, but it is out of my hands.

I have sent out emails asking for more information but I haven’t gotten any yet and its been over a year. I don’t expect to hear anything at all at this point.

No they simply are sitting on the domain so that if a gremlins 3 does happen they can try and sell the gremlins3.co.uk domain name for a ton of money. It is a very common practice.

Well it doesn’t mean that a movie will definitely happen. It just means they are making sure no one else can take the domain. It is a common practice as I have said before and we should be careful not to read too much into this. It does, however mean that they are aware that gremlins3.com may be a domain that could be worth money if someone were to squat it and it ever be needed by WB in the future
