{Gremlins 3} IGN Reports: No Gremlins 3 For Joe Dante
Not really new news at all but interesting nonetheless.

“There are no plans in the offing to do another Gremlins movie” he revealed. “I think that because of the CGI situation and the fact that you can now do anything when you make a movie… the originalfilms were limited by the scope of what we could do technically, and that’s what the movies became about. Now it’s so wide-open, you can almost do anything, and I don’t think they’ve got a handle on what kind of movie it would be.
There you have it folks, right now he does not know of any plans for Gremlins 3. This doesn’t mean it isn’t happening, it just means it is not happening right now….stay tuned for more details…

idont care if they use CGI. if it has anything to do with gremlins id watch it.
I agree with you Gizmolover. CGI could be good for Gremlins if they don’t mess it up I don’t want them to turn Gizmo into Jar-Jar Binks hopefully they will use Gizmo as a puppet and the gremlins as CGI in fact lets have all mix and mix of some puppets and some computer
Honestly I would love to see a movie now days where they use some the type of puppetry from Gremlins. It would bring us back to pushing the evelope on what can physically be done. Just think how far we have come in robotics since the 80’s! Warner Bros could easily take the Gremlins Franchise and modernize it into a present day cash cow by making a couple movies and still keep the puppetry and animatronics used in the previous movies. Parents and children alike would flock to the theaters.
Might I also add that many though claymation was dead but did that stop them from making “The Fantastic Mr. Fox”?

Actually there was no mention that there is any work being done on a new Gremlins film.
It sounds like he is saying that if there were to be a Gremlins 3 any time in the near future it would have to be a whole new concept. Since the advent of CGI and other technologies have made what used to be impossible on screen almost commonplace.
I did not think of that until Joe pointed it out but I think its true. Warner Brothers are not putting any effort into the movie and there only caring about CGI nothing is really happening all they are doing is developing the characters but hardly. I was excited about Gremlins 3 until now 😦
